Das 'Naturrecht Feyerabend' ist die einzige erhaltene Naturrechtsvorlesung Kants. Er hat sie im Sommersemester 1784 gehalten, d.h. zu eben der Zeit, in der er mit der Abfassung seiner 'Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten' beschäftigt gewesen ist. So kommt es, dass in der langen 'Einleitung' jener Vorlesung die zentralen Gedanken der 'Grundlegung' in lebendiger Form wiederkehren, ja diese 'Einleitung' liest sich fast wie ein Kommentar zu dem Werk. (Ein eigenes Parallelstellenverzeichnis, das dem Index beigegeben ist, macht das im Einzelnen sichtbar.) Das ist der Grund, warum die 'Einleitung' der Vorlesung in einem ersten Teilband gesondert abgedruckt und lexikalisch erschlossen wurde.

Der Abdruck des 'Naturrechts Feyerabend' im Band 27 der Akademie-Ausgabe enthält zahlreiche Druckfehler, die es oft schwer machen, den authentischen Sinn des Textes zu verstehen. Der gegenwärtige Index legt erstmals eine neue kritische Edition des Textes vor. Damit erscheint das Werk in einer verlässlichen Ausgabe. Es bleibt uns nur zu bezeugen, dass das vorliegende Werk, mit den Indices zum ersten Teil, alles Lob verdient und dass man schwerlich einen vollkommeneren und vollständigeren Index vorlegen kann, mit einer Vielzahl von Anmerkungen und Erläuterungen, Konkordanzen und zahlreichen Indices, die die Heranziehung und Kenntnis dieses Werks außerordentlich erleichtern. The 'Naturrecht Feyerabend' (Natural Law Feyerabend) is Kant's only lecture on natural law which is still available today. He held it during the summer semester of 1784, at the same time as he was working on his 'Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten' (Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals). This is why the key thoughts from the 'Groundwork' recur in the long introduction to this lecture. This introduction at times almost reads like a separate commentary on the published work. (A separate list of parallel passages which is included in the index shows individual examples of this). This is also the reason why the introduction to the lecture is reprinted separately in the first volume of this set and is analyzed lexically. The reprint of the 'Naturrecht Feyerabend' in Volume 27 of the Academy edition however contains so many typographical errors which distort the meaning that these errors can no longer be corrected here by providing lists of typographical errors. This is why for the first time the index contains a new critical edition of the entire text (along with the apparatus of variants missing in the Academy edition). The 'Naturrecht Feyerabend' is being published for the first time in a reliable text edition.
