The single reference for medicines and substances for pharmaceutical use in Europe
The European Pharmacopoeia are legally binding and compliance is enforced by the administrative or juridical authorities. This new 8th edition comes into force on the 1 January 2014.
The texts cover active substances, excipients, substances or preparations for pharmaceutical use of chemical, animal, human or herbal origin, homoeopathic preparations and stocks, antibiotics, as well as dosage forms and containers. The texts also apply to biologicals, blood and plasma derivatives, vaccines and radiopharmaceutical preparations.
