The Tunisian-Russian artist Nadia Kaabi-Linke deals with conceptual and material relationships. What kinds of combinations of fabrics, media, and signs make sense, in either a conciliatory or an upsetting way? "Matter Matters" outlines certain constellations of meaning and thematic concepts. Register, diagram, material details, and excerpts from the artist's work journal help to create temporal, physical, and conceptual contexts. A laboratory notebook that pursues a visual grammar of things.

Brief biography:Born in Tunis, lives in Berlin.Winner of the 2014 Discoveries Prize, ArtBasel Hong Kong, and the 2011 Abraaj Group Art Prize.Selected solo shows:Walk the Line, Dallas Contemporary Museum, Dallas, TX, 2015; The Future Rewound and the Cabinet of Souls, Mosaic Rooms, London, UK; Stranded, Centro de Arte Moderna, Lisbon, Portugal. Kaabi-Linke's works are in various private and public collections, including the M+ Museum of Modern Art, Hong Kong; The Burger Collection; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. From 2011 to 2014 one of the pieces she worked on was Meinstein, a permanently installed work of public art in Berlin.
