Description
Arik Brauer, a co-founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism and an artistic universal genius, has created a place of extraordinary inspiration and productivity at his villa in the Währing district of Vienna. He lived and worked there together with his family over a period of decades. His art has been on display in a specially built museum and Sculpture Park since 2003. In this highly personal book, his daughter Timna Brauer shows us the collection and architecture as well as relating moving anecdotes from the life of Arik Brauer. The latter serve as a key to understanding the artist's motives and creative processes. This is an indispensable book for all those seeking to see Arik Brauer's Universal Artwork whilst also grasping its full biographical and human dimensions. Complete with numerous QR codes providing insights into Arik Brauer's songs and his thoughts on art. Timna Brauer was born in Vienna to the Austrian Painter Arik Brauer and his Yemeni Israeli wife Naomi. She studied singing and piano at the Conservatory of Vienna and went on to complete a degree in music at the renowned Sorbonne in Paris, where her studies were supplemented by master classes ranging from classical music and jazz to Indian singing. She represented Austria at the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest, where she performed solo. This marked the start of an international career in which she consciously pursued a cross-over style. Accompanied by musicians from all over the world, she created a unique sound which encompassed chansons, innovative children's programmes and the rich variety of Jewish music in particular. This creative energy has led to the release of around 20 albums up until now. In more recent times, Timna Brauer has expanded her artistic expression and now takes a keen interest in the visual arts. Today she also manages her father's museum, the ARIK BRAUER VILLA.
