Gabriel Fauré is arguably one of the world's most lyrical and expressive composers. He had not only the gift of being able to write beautiful melodies, he also had the ability to surround them in an extremely rich harmonic environment. It is only in recent years that we have begun to realise just how significant a composer he was.
This album is a collection of eight of his most well-known works including transcriptions of both vocal and instrumental pieces. The aim of this volume is to provide clarinetists with the opportunity of playing the music of Fauré on an instrument which is capable of doing justice to his expressive melodic lines.
