It addresses field research, production, and post-production processes; the frequent tensions between filmmakers' visions and public, commercial or political agendas in early ethnographic cinema; the reframing of the ethnographic archive in 21st century. The essays highlight emerging community-based and collaborative initiatives focused on creation, co-authorship, and the repatriation of audiovisual heritage.
