Description
This paper is the result of research carried out as part of a master's program in chemistry focused on education, which includes a proposal to teach green chemistry through a didactic sequence developed with first-year high school students from a public school. The didactic sequence presented here used the peer instruction methodology, which sought, through problematization, to encourage students to investigate everyday materials and thus understand aspects such as chemical composition, economic and environmental viability and the use of chemical elements in their manufacture.The research sought to promote the awakening of students to a philosophy of more sustainable consumption during each of the moments of the didactic sequence, drawing correlations between the students' daily lives and the materials they consume, highlighting the importance of environmental seals, the influence of advertising campaigns that drive consumption and the need to adjust educational curricula, bringing Green Chemistry closer to the perspectives of CTS (science, technology and society) teaching. Professor with a degree in chemistry from UNEAL (State University of Alagoas) and a student in the master's program in chemistry in the national network PROFQUI/UFAL.
