Description
(Text)
This reference work covers the elemental steps of oxidation starting from the chemisorbed state of oxygen to the formation of nanostructures (clusters) of oxides including the growth of a uniform thin film of oxides. The methods and processes of growth are discussed with the surface sensitive methods necessary for growth control of the material. The book is particularly suitable for advanced students and specialists in the field (physicists, chemistry, engineers, material scientists, technicians). Emphasis is also on the structure of the oxide surfaces and the elemental growth process. Details of the methods of investigation and practical hints for the controlled growth of clusters, nanostructures, and thin films of amorphous and crystalline oxides, oxynitride (a technologically important group of materials) and nitrides, and metals on oxide surfaces.
Tables with special properties of the oxides, oxynitrides, and nitrides and figures of spectra and surface specific methods of characterisation help to cover this fast growing field of materials in a understandable way.
