"VULGATA. 77 Hits on the Bible" examines a book that belongs to the most essential sources of inspiration of art together with 50 contemporary artists. And which is regarded as Holy Scripture by believers; that is, as a text which is sacred, binding and inspiring for one's own life-despite all knowledge that it has a long history of origins, contains manifold text genres, is highly variable in its literary quality and less and less compatible with a modern view of the world determined by the insights of science. This is where there are the discontinuities, the breakups, the ironies and at the same time the creative energy of its mythical and spiritual power. This is also the place of art that lets us see familiar, lost or alien things with new eyes: It is presented by the author as an exhibition and is accompanied by an essay. Johannes Rauchenberger born in 1969, curator of international exhibitions between the poles of art and religion; studied Art History and Theology in Graz, Austria, and Tübingen and Cologne, Germany, Doctor of Theology. He has managed the KULTUM.at, Graz, an institution for contemporary art, contemporary culture and religion since 2000. He is a cultural publicist and lecturer for Art and Religion at the Universities of Vienna (since 2004) and Graz (since 2009). Johannes Rauchenberger geboren 1969, ist Kurator zahlreicher Ausstellungen mit dem Schwerpunkt zeitgenössische Kunst und Religion. Nach dem Studium der Kunstgeschichte und kath. Theologie in Graz, Tübingen und Köln und der Promotion über "Biblische Bildlichkeit. Kunst - Raum theologischer Erkenntnis" (Schöningh, 1999) war er wiss. Mitarbeiter an der Bildtheologischen Arbeitsstelle der Universität zu Köln bei Alex Stock. Seit 2000 leitet er das Kulturzentrum bei den Minoriten (KULTUM.at), ein Haus für zeitgenössische Kunst, Gegenwartskultur und Religion in Graz. Seit vielen Jahren lehrt er Sakralkunst und Sakralarchitektur an den Universitäten Wien und Graz. Zuletzt erschien: "GOTT HAT KEIN MUSEUM. Religion in der Kunst des beginnenden XXI. Johannes Rauchenberger ist Kurator zahlreicher Ausstellungen mit dem Schwerpunkt zeitgenössische Kunst und Religion. Er studierte Kunst-geschichte und Katholische Theologie in Graz, Tübingen und Köln und promovierte über "Biblische Bildlichkeit".
