Der Humanist Johannes Atrocianus (Grimm), Pädagoge, Dichter, Humanist und Reformationsgegner, wandte sich in seiner Polemik gegen Johannes Oekolampad und dessen Gefolgsleute. Atrocians lateinische Elegien und Epigramme, die 1528/1529 in Basel erschienen und eine kritische Phase der Reformation beleuchten, liegen nun erstmals in einer kommentierten zweisprachigen Ausgabe vor. Die Herausgeber Ch. Guerra, H. Harich-Schwarzbauer und J. Hindermann erschliessen mit der Edition des Gesamtwerks Atrocians, der mit der Druckerwerkstatt Frobens und dem Gelehrtenkreis um Erasmus in enger Verbindung stand, ein einzigartiges Zeitzeugnis zur Geschichte der Reformation am Oberrhein, das für die Geschichte Basels und der Reformation, für die Rezeption der antiken Literatur sowie für die Geschichte der Pädagogik wertvolle Einsichten liefert. Johannes Atrocianus (Grimm) - pedagogue, poet, humanist and opponent of the Reformation - attacked Johannes Oecolampadius and his followers in his polemic. Atrocian's Latin elegies und epigrams, first published in Basel in 1528/1529, which shed light on a critical phase of the Reformation, are now published in the first annotated bilingual edition. In their edition of the complete works of Atrocian, who was closely linked to the printing-house of Froben and the circle of scholars around Erasmus, the editors Ch. Guerra, H. Harich-Schwarzbauer und J. Hindermann provide access to a unique document in the history of the Reformation in the Upper Rhine region, which offers valuable insights into the history of Basel and of the Reformation, as well as the reception of classical literature and the history of education.
