Description
(Text)
This work investigates factors of motivation under the sub-types of goal orientation and self-efficacy and the role of teachers in enhancing the process of learning a second language at the English Department, SQU. The research investigates various studies related to goal orientation, self-efficacy, the problems associated with them, their role in developing L2 and the role of instructors in enhancing the students' motivation towards English. The research sheds the light on the beliefs and attitudes with both students and teachers. Moreover, the work analyzes the data collected from (30) students enrolled in the English Department and (8) instructors who work there. Additionally, it finds that English Department students at SQU have positive responses to goal-orientation; however, they have a medium level of self-efficacy. This research also shows that most of the instructors at the English Department play an overall positive role towards helping the students to follow strategiesthat develop the long learning process of English.
