Tuberculosis is one of the leading cause of death worldwide caused by mycobacteria. The disease is spread by infectious aerosol droplets, 1-5 µm in diameters that contain M. tb. The particles can remain airborne from minutes to hours after being released by people with pulmonary or laryngeal tuberculosis during coughing, sneezing, singing or talking. Carbohydrates because abundant availability as sources of metabolic energy, their high tolerance, improved pharmacokinetics, better transport, low toxicity and role in recognition of pharmacological phenomena have been recognized of late as offering a source of scaffolds superior in many respects than the scaffolds presently employed in drug discovery.
