Full Description

This book presents diverse perspectives on the status of evolutionary science and the teaching of evolution in Muslim societies.  Specifically, it focuses on the treatment of evolution in secondary biology curricula from various countries including Egypt, Indonesia, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Malaysia and Pakistan.  Another important aspect of this work involves the historical and contemporary responses to evolutionary theory in predominantly Muslim societies and their implications for promoting a deeper understanding of evolution. Further, the volume makes recommendations for overcoming the rejection of evolution by Islamic creationists.
