DNA repair plays a crucial role in the maintenance of genomic stability. Its importance is exemplified by numerous human autosomal recessive and cancer-prone syndromes characterized by deficiencies in various DNA repair pathways. Realizing the importance of DNA repair in human health and welfare, this special issue has been designed to provide an overview of the current state of knowledge on leading causes of genomic instability and cancer with unique perspectives and novel experimental approaches. A comprehensive collection of original research manuscripts and review articles in this special issue covers a wide range of topics on G-quadruplex ribosomal DNA, impaired mitochondrial DNA function in premature aging syndromes, chromosomal DNA damage analysis, epigenetic alterations, and therapeutic strategies for combating cancer.
