Regardless of whether he is making fun of his compatriots' new business- orientated awareness following the merging of Eastern and Western Europe, bringing a breath of fresh air into stagnating disarmament negotions with his idea of a vampire commando, taking the mickey out of the official imbecility familiar from the ever-popular president jokes or mocking the megalomania of modern medicine-men, there is no escaping Mrozek's caustic wit. In Der Perverse, the most normal of situations can suddenly take on an aspect of unreality.
