Jane Bowring was working as an editor on adult books when she was asked by a colleague to look at some children's picture book manuscripts. From that developed a desire to write for children herself. Her own children and those of her friends provided a rich source of inspiration.
Along the way she discovered that many children prefer non-fiction to fiction. Researching material for her non-fiction titles led to a fascination with wild animals, some of which have made an appearance in her latest stories. Jane is the author of Cousins and Crocodiles and Lost in the Rain in the Hueber Lektüren Englisch series.
