Versteht man das Wirkliche vom Möglichen her, so hat das methodische Konsequenzen. Diese werden in einer kontemplativen Philosophie gezogen. Es geht nicht mehr um die Feststellung, wie die Dinge sind oder sein müssen, sondern um eine Übersicht, wie sie sein könnten und in welcher Vielfalt sie sich schon zeigen. Die philosophische Aufgabe besteht nicht im Auffinden einer Antwort, sondern in der sensiblen Beschreibung des Vielfältigen und Heterogenen.
Dieses von Wittgenstein inspirierte Projekt ist religionsphilosophisch insbesondere von Dewi Z. Phillips (1934-2006) fruchtbar gemacht worden. Der vorliegende Band lotet dessen kontemplative Religionsphilosophie in einem engagierten Gespräch aus. Dadurch wird sichtbar, wie sich die Beschreibung religiösen Glaubens und der Zugang zu seiner Praxis und Sprache in dieser Denkweise auf unerwartete und provokante Weise wandelt.
