Description
The book series Andere Ästhetik - Studien (AÄS) (Different Aesthetics - Studies) mainly comprises monographs and collections of scholarly articles that address the research programme of the Collaborative Research Centre 1391 in a disciplinary perspective.
Personifications are human-like embodiments of abstract ideas and concepts. In literature and art, they are created to make something complex into something vivid and tangible. The volume focuses on personifications from the Middle Ages and the early modern period that are involved in and perform actions, and asks how an aesthetic added value is created through the connection between art and sociocultural practice.
