Nach Abschluss der 36 Textbände der Theologischen Realenzyklopädie im Jahr 2004 wird das Gesamtkorpus durch ein neu erstelltes Register erschlossen. Für biographische und geographische Recherchen wird damit ein einzigartiges Hilfsmittel geschaffen.
Das Gesamtregister besteht aus zwei Bänden:
Band I (Bibelstellen, Orte, Sachen - erschienen 2006), Band II (Namen).
Die Bände werden damit zu einem unverzichtbaren Werkzeug für die Erschließung aller in der TRE enthaltenen Texte.

They are comprehensive indexes of one of the most significant reference works of the last century. Four separate indexes comprise the two volumes: place references, subjects, biblical texts (including apocryphal and deuteroncanonical literature), and personal names. The amount of material contained in each index is staggering, giving readers an indication of the encyclopedia's depth and breadth. Perusal of the volumes reveals a European orientation, both in names and places, although the subjects also include plentiful references to the global South. This compact study edition is essential for optimum use of the encyclopedia itself. Every theological library should have a copy."
