Full Description
This edition of "Ulrich von Zatzikhofen's Lanzelet" replaces the old edition by Karl August Hahn and thus fulfils a long-felt need in German Medieval Studies. In contrast to Hahn's procedure of using the (somewhat sparse) texts to construct a definitive singular critical text, the present edition devotes more attention to the individual manuscript. At the same time it is intended to provide an easily readable text specifically designed for literary scholars; users with linguistic and codicological interests are catered for by the provision of exact transcriptions of the manuscript and reproductions of the extant media (on a CD-ROM). A very close translation is designed to facilitate access to the Middle High German text. This new edition is completed with a research report, a textual commentary, a complete research bibliography, and various indexes.
