Full Description
This book provides an overview of the effective control of weeds, which is a pressing challenge in modern agriculture. Global agriculture is a major source of livelihood, but the productivity of crops is much lower in many countries and needs enhancement to meet the food demands of a growing population. For weed control, farmers use various approaches; however, due to the limitations of cultural methods, they often choose herbicides as a cost-effective, rapid, and highly efficient strategy. The different kinds of weeds not only compete with crops for resources like nutrients, water, and sunlight, but they also pose a serious threat to food safety and agricultural sustainability because of the indiscriminate use of herbicides.
The proposed book will address the history, progress, and consequences of herbicide application, and discuss potential ways to reduce ecotoxicity due to herbicide application, along with directions for future research areas using the benefits of nanotechnology. It will be of major interest to researchers working on safer and more efficient herbicides with less environmental exposure.
