Along the lines of the military aircraft Mirage and at a time when in the French air force prevailed research an abundance of creativity, Dassault developed, starting from operational versions of the Mirage III aircraft, an experimental prototype using both his own and Etat's funds, to meet or anticipate changes of the then aeronautical doctrine, and in response to expected military developments. It was the first flight with vertical take-off and landing, and several prototypes were constructed on the basis of the technical achievements of the Mirage III.Starting from the economic and political context, the book recounts - relying on original documents, on photography sets and on the testimony of some major players - the development of these prototype aircraft.
