La christologie des mystiques rhénans est souvent laissée pour compte, quand on ne leur reproche pas de ne pas en proposer. Or, Eckhart a su dégager le sens de la christologie et l'importance de la conformation au Christ. Il est, avec Nicolas de Cues, l'un de ceux qui sont allés le plus loin dans l'approfondissement de la filiation divine. Tauler a repris et développé sa perspective. Suso a davantage envisagé le Christ à partir de la figure de la Sagesse éternelle. Force est de constater que les mystiques rhénans et Nicolas de Cues ont proposé une christologie solide, qui est l'axe de leur oeuvre et qu'il importe de redécouvrir. Cet ouvrage, fruit de la coopération entre l'Équipe de recherche sur les mystiques rhénans de l'université de Lorraine et le Cusanus Institut de Trêves, invite à cette redécouverte.

The Christology of the Rhenish mystics is often overlooked when they are not being accused of failing to provide any. Yet Eckhart was able to bring out the meaning of Christology and the importance of its conformation to Christ. Along with Nicholas of Cusa, Eckhart is amongst those who went furthest in their examination of the divine filiation. His viewpoint was later resumed and developed by Tauler. Suso's vision of Christ was more based on the figure of Eternal Wisdom. It is indisputable that the Rhenish mystics and Nicholas of Cusa furnished a sound Christology, which was the basis of their oeuvre, and which we would gain by rediscovering. This volume, the fruit of a collaboration between the research team working on the Rhenish mystics at Lorraine University and the Cusanus-Institut in Trier, invites us to do so.
