The book will be a work of non-fiction examining the intersections of sex work, power, violence and feminism, building on an article the author wrote for n+1 on these same topics. It will examine and debunk prevalent myths of what commercial sex is and isn't; reveal sex workers not as hostages of the patriarchy, but as leaders of feminist movements; strip away the commonly accepted pillars of conversation around sex work to ask whether it's useful to frame 'sex work' as 'work' at all; and use international examples from the US, UK and elsewhere to build a picture of the current state of legislation and possible futures.
