This book persistently challenges the residual orthodoxies of first-generation neo-Marxism and its fellow travellers in order to lay the foundations of a second-generation neo-Marxist project that also seeks a path beyond Marx's and Marxism's polarisation. It is not the young or the old Marx, but the young and old Marx. It is not historical materialism or the philosophy of praxis, but rather historical materialism plus the philosophy of praxis. Essentially, this book seeks unification by reversing the epistemological break fallacy thus bringing in the early works that are demonstrated to be integral to a holistic reading of Marx's episteme, while simultaneously shattering the myth of a seamless continuity in account between the Communist Manifesto and Capital Vol. 1 that opens up the need to rethink the prognosis and unite it with praxis.
