This book explores the emergence of engineered wildlife road crossing structures known as wildlife crossings in eastern Australia. Concepts such as global landscape transformation and metapopulation theory are introduced and these are then linked to the importance of habitat connectivity in species conservation and the vital role that wildlife crossings perform.
