Cancer is a complex disease, and the study of cancer requires an understanding of molecular and cellular biology, pathology, clinical aspects and an introduction to the therapeutics that are currently in use. In this book, we first discuss the molecular and cellular changes that occur in most carcinomas. This is followed by a brief overview of experimental approaches to studying cancer and clinical aspects of diagnosis and treatment. Next, we bring together these components of cancer to focus on some of the most common and deadly cancers. By the end of the book, students will possess a strong understanding of both the basic biology of cancer as well as relevant clinical, therapeutic and ethical issues of the disease.
