Semantic interpretation and the resolution of ambiguity presents an important advance in computer understanding of natural language. Graeme Hirst offers a new, theoretically motivated foundation for conceptual analysis by computer, and shows how this framework facilitates the resolution of lexical and syntactic ambiguities.
