This first module presents a foundation for teaching the adult learner and provides participants with best practices of adult education. This information helps to set the stage for future modules and provides the essential information needed by any instructor teaching adults. The sections included in this module are as follows: section 1: adult learner characteristics and needs; section 2: applying selected adult learning theories; section 3: using learning domains in the classroom; section 4: brain dominance and learning styles; and section 5: best practices in teaching the adult learner.
