As the book shows, the cars developed during this period transformed Aston Martin from a small manufacturer of specialist sports and racing cars to a worldwide name. Written by Aston Martin expert Richard Branch, the book covers the significant characters at Aston Martin, including David Brown himself and other members of the design team, including WO Bentley at Lagonda.

The book covers the development of the cars, including saloons, convertibles and fixed-head coupes. It also includes the different engines that were used, including the Lagonda straight six and the Tadek Marek 3.0 Six. Also included are the coach-built specials from design houses such as Vignale, Greber and Touring of Milan.
