Re;Start: Connections explores the very raw reality of relationships, closely following the true story of a long distance young adult couple, functioning as both a cute and relatable romance story, as well as a self-help guide.
Written in third-person, the female lead protagonist is 19 years old and from the south of Italy in Apulia, studying languages with an interest in linguistics, Geography trivia in general, and contrastingly, punk culture. The male lead protagonist is 21 years old and from the south of England in Cornwall, working full time, dedicating much of his time to his career and working out.
Through chance, they meet online via social media and instantly connect. As more time passes, they begin to fight their own emotions, acknowledging how their love could never blossom into something genuine, all the while feeling said emotions burn even stronger.
After much hesitation, they eventually close the distance and meet in person, allowing the connection to become something deeper. As time passes, their story of a long distance relationship develops further, facing difficulties of not only typical relationships, but especially those found in long distance relationships.
With each chapter, a lesson is given to the reader based on the experiences of the couple, so that one can learn from the tale itself. Separated by thousands of miles, how do the young adults go about keeping the spark between them ignited? What feelings are healthy, and which are unhealthy? On the contrary, just how precious is their time together in person? What experiences do they share, and just how significant a meaning do they hold?
Ultimately, how did they feel, and what can you learn from them and their journeys between Apulia and Cornwall?
