This book is derived from evaluation research conducted during a PhD study by the author. The book shed light on the extant literature on various rural development approaches which has been taken by the development agencies to improve the livelihood of the farmers in developing countries. Connecting the literature to the most promising and emerging development approach, "whole of chain approach", this book provides a comprehensive methodology to evaluate the whole of chain approach in the context of a single and double loop learning framework. Lessons are derived for practitioners, policy makers and development scientists for the successful execution of the rural development approaches aiming to link farmers to the market.
