1939. With war imminent in Poland, and knowing the dangers their people face, Tamar flees to London while her fiancée Isaac must stay and fulfil his duty to his country. He carries with him a silver clasp from Tamar's bracelet as a token of her love.
In the heart of the East End, Tamar strikes up a friendship with two women, but when the war's devastation reaches Tamar's doorstep, she is recruited for espionage. Though she fears for her own life, the thought of Isaac's life being taken from her is worse still.
When Tamar's fears become true, her world is shattered and she returns to London to the women and community she has come to know as her family and home. Together, they begin to rebuild their lives. And then Isaac's silver clasp returns . . .
