Artist and designer Es Devlin's outstanding works have challenged ideas about stagecraft and its role in society. Straddling the fields of art, opera, dance, theatre, fashion and music, her practice has helped engender innovative forms of kinetic sculpture. Her creative vision has filled millions of people with wonder: from installations at Tate Modern, kinetic stage designs for Olympic opening ceremonies, and monumental sculptures for Beyoncé. Devlin's work is at once deeply personal and inherently collective, engaging with biodiversity, linguistic diversity and collective AI-generated poetry.
Following on the success of An Atlas of Es Devlin (2023), A Concise Atlas of Es Devlin maintains the experiential design of the original in an accessible, smaller format with over twenty new projects from Devlin's recent output, including collaborations with Lady Gaga, Gucci and the V&A. Coinciding with the Design Museum's retrospective of her work opening in autumn 2026, the book features Devlin's personal commentaries on each work, as well as interviews with her collaborators including Pharrell Williams and Carlo Rovelli.
