This program describes the formation and function of the five types of mature white blood cells, and discusses relevant laboratory values. Neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes are described, as is the etiology of the increase and decrease for each. It also includes discussions of important nursing considerations when caring for patients who experience changes in their leukocyte patterns.
