Full Description
Part of a series of multimedia surgical teaching tools edited by Dr. Rosser, of Yale University School of Medicine, this provides interactive, hands-on training in Nissen fundoplication from a laparoscopic perspective. Detailed video/still images of anatomical structures familiarise the user with the stepped procedures of each stage of operation, while Room Set-up demonstrates the correct orientation of surgical/visualisation equipment and surgical personnel. The Procedure section walks users through all phases of the operation, also allowing jumps to another phase out of sequence for independent review. Indications/contraindications are discussed, as are complications. Finally, specific to this program are a comprehensive overview of the pathophysiology of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the medical management procedures for its treatment, as well as the evolution of several fundoplication procedures.
