Full Description
This text aims to bridge the gap between the Tokyo's cultural heritage and its present, describing in close detail how it evolved from the shogun capital of a closed society to the international capital of an expanding country. Special attention is paid to the artistic and architectural trends in the Meiji (1868-1912) and Taisho (1912-1925) periods, about which not a great deal has been previously written.
