This book aims to illustrate and explain the “Cognitive Metaphorology” from experiential and cultural perspectives and highlights two prominent features of cognitive metaphor: multidimensionality and cross-sphere application. This book demonstrates that embodied experience is the shared philosophical basis of commonalities underlying the similarities in these metaphors across Chinese and English; national and cultural factors introduce variations in metaphors between the two languages.
