"Daniel Bedrosian has done a wonderful job of a seemingly impossible task of reconstructing this history - finding everybody who's been a part of, involved with, or in any way left their fingerprint on what has become the P-Funk." - George Clinton
This revised paperback edition includes over 100 additional artists and groups - notable P-Funk collaborations with a wide-ranging and, at times, surprising cast, including Boy George, Ginger Baker, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Rita Coolidge, Yoko Ono, Public Image Ltd, Afrika Bambaataa, and many more. It also includes P-Funk releases in recent years as well as important corrections to pre-existing entries.
George Clinton's Parliament-Funkadelic collective (P-Funk) stands as one of the most iconic and important groups in popular music history, with an impressively large discography, enormous number of members, and long history. This authorized reference, written by the longest-tenured keyboardist for P-Funk, provides the official P-Funk canon starting in 1956: every project, album, collaboration, song, details of personnel for songs, and tidbits about each act and select songs, as well as dozens of rare photos.
Song entries are organized under artist & group names and contain definitive listings of players for each song. Select entries shed light on the inner workings of the recording process, singles chartings, controversies, inside information about process, and more. The culmination of nearly 30 years of careful research, interviews, and access to exclusive archival material, this authorized volume demystifies one of the most unique and influential popular musical groups in history, from its inception as The Parliaments to the present day.
