Die B-dur-Symphonie komponierte Beethoven 1806, einem seiner produktivsten Jahre, in dem zahlreiche weitere Großwerke - etwa das 4. Klavierkonzert und das Violinkonzert - entstanden. Sie steht heute sehr zu Unrecht im Schatten ihrer berühmten Nachbarn, der "Eroica" und der Fünften, gehörte dagegen noch das ganze 19. Jahrhundert hindurch zu den beliebtesten und meist aufgeführten Werken Beethovens. Mit einem Vorwort der Herausgeberin Bathia Churgin versehen, setzt die Edition auf der Basis des Notentexts der Beethoven-Gesamtausgabe die Reihe unserer Beethoven-Symphonien im handlichen Format der Studien-Edition fort.

Beethoven composed his Symphony in B flat major in 1806, a very productive year in which he wrote numerous other great works - such as the 4th Piano Concerto and the Violin Concerto. Today it is unjustly overshadowed by its famous neighbours, the "Eroica" and the 5th Symphony, although it was one of Beethoven's best-loved and most often performed works throughout the 19th century. With its preface by the editor Bathia Churgin, the edition is based on the musical text of the Beethoven Complete Edition and continues our series of study editions of Beethoven symphonies in a convenient format.
