Beethovens Klaviersonate Nr. 7 in D-dur ist die dritte aus seinem 1798 erschienenen Opus 10 und zugleich das Schwergewicht dieser Werkgruppe. Als eine der gewaltigsten Sonaten aus den früheren Jahren besticht sie durch ihre enorme Bandbreite an Stimmungen und höchst kunstvolle Verzahnung motivischer Elemente. Im Zentrum steht das berühmte Largo e mesto, schwermütig, klagend und geradezu tragisch in der Tiefe seiner Empfindung. Eingerahmt wird es von einem energischen Kopfsatz und einem leichtfüßigen Menuetto. Den Abschluss bildet ein lebensfroh-spielerisches Finale, das an Haydns humorvolle Eskapaden erinnert. In einer tiefgründigen Einführung widmet sich Murray Perahia diesem Meisterwerk. Eine weitere Edition aus der Werkstatt Gertsch-Perahia zur Neuausgabe sämtlicher Klaviersonaten Beethovens, wie immer mit dem Fingersatz des Kult-Pianisten.

Beethoven's Piano Sonata no. 7 in D major is the third from his Opus 10, which appeared in 1798, and simultaneously the heavyweight of this group of works. As one of the most powerful sonatas from the early years, it captivates with its very broad spectrum of moods and highly elaborate interplay of motivic elements. At the centre is the famous Largo e mesto, mournful, plaintive and almost tragic in the profundity of its emotion. It is framed by an energetic first movement and a nimble Menuetto. The conclusion is formed by a vivacious-playful Finale which is reminiscent of Haydn's humourful escapades. In an in-depth introduction, Murray Perahia discusses this masterpiece. A further edition from the Gertsch-Perahia workshop for the new edition of Beethoven's Complete Piano Sonatas, as always with fingerings by the cult pianist.

La Sonate pour piano n° 7 en Ré majeur de Beethoven est la troisième et la plus importante de son opus 10 paru en 1798. Cette sonate, l'une des plus monumentales des années de jeunesse, se distingue par une très grande variété d'atmosphères et une imbrication très élaborée d'éléments motiviques. Le célèbre Largo et mesto, lugubre, plaintif, tragique même par la profondeur des sentiments qui l'imprègnent, en constitue le coeur. Il est encadré par un mouvement liminaire énergique, et un menuet primesautier. Un finale alerte et enjoué, qui rappelle les digressions pleines d'humour d'un Haydn, tient lieu de conclusion. Murray Perahia consacre à ce chef-d'oeuvre une introduction très approfondie. Une contribution supplémentaire de l'atelier Gertsch-Perahia à la nouvelle édition intégrale des sonates pour piano de Beethoven, avec comme toujours les doigtés du pianiste-culte.
