Dieser Band vereint Mozarts jugendliche Anläufe zu dieser später so zentralen Gattung des Streichquartetts: Das erstaunliche "Lodi"-Quartett KV 80 des erst Vierzehnjährigen, die gerne auch von Kammerorchestern gespielten drei "Quartett-Divertimenti" KV 136-138 und den ersten veritablen Streichquartett-Zyklus Mozarts KV 155-160, der während seiner dritten (Nord-) Italienreise 1772/73 entstand. Zu allen Kompositionen haben sich die sauber geschriebenen Partituren Mozarts erhalten, so dass die Edition auf sicherer Grundlage steht. Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, der erfahrene Mozart-Herausgeber im G. Henle Verlag, widmet in seinem informativen Kritischen Bericht dem bekannten Artikulationsproblem "Punkt oder Strich" einen eigenen, ausführlich erläuternden Abschnitt. Dieser Band wurde künstlerisch vom Armida-Quartett begleitet.

This volume brings together Mozart's youthful attempts at this later so central genre of the string quartet: the astonishing "Lodi Quartet" K. 80 by the only fourteen-year-old composer, the three "Quartet-Divertimenti" K. 136-138 which are also readily played by chamber orchestras, and Mozart's first true string-quartet cycle K. 155-160 which was composed during his third (north-)Italian journey in 1772/73. Mozart's cleanly written scores of all the compositions have been preserved so that the edition stands on a secure foundation. In his informative commentary, Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, the experienced Mozart editor at G. Henle Publishers, devotes a separate, comprehensive explanatory section to the well-known articulation problem "dot or wedge". The Armida Quartet provided artistic input for this edition.

Ce volume réunit les expériences de jeunesse de Mozart dans le genre du quatuor à cordes, plus tard d'une importance si centrale: l'étonnant Quatuor «Lodi» K. 80, composé à seulement quatorze ans, les trois «Quatuors-Divertimenti» K. 136-138, volontiers joués par des orchestres de chambre, ainsi que le premier «vrai» cycle de quatuors à cordes de Mozart K. 155-160, composé durant son troisième voyage en Italie (du Nord) en 1772/73. Pour toutes ces pièces, les partitions très soigneusement écrites de la main de Mozart ont été conservées et constituent de la sorte une base solide pour l'édition. Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, éditeur expérimenté de Mozart aux éditions G. Henle, consacre un paragraphe entier, très détaillé et éclairant, de sa Appareil critique instructive à la fameuse question du «point ou du trait» dans les articulations. La réalisation de ce recueil a été accompagnée sur le plan artistique par le Quatuor Armida.
