"Señor Albéniz hat allen Grund dazu, sich die Worte 'Veni, vidi, vici' auf seine Fahne zu schreiben". So kommentierte die Londoner Presse den Siegeszug, den der Spanier zwischen 1889 und 1893 durch England angetreten hatte. Ausgerechnet auf den britischen Inseln wandte er sich verstärkt Sujets aus seiner Heimat zu und komponierte u. a. España (HN 857). Es mag verwundern, aber Albéniz brachte in dieser Hommage an die iberische Halbinsel einen Tango unter, der im Gewand einer kubanischen Habanera auftritt. Hinter dieser multikulturellen Charade verbirgt sich eines der populärsten Werke Albéniz', voll schmelzender Sehnsucht nach exotischen Gefilden. Das leicht spielbare Werk ist nun als Einzelausgabe erhältlich.

"Señor Albéniz may well inscribe upon his escutcheon the words 'Veni, vidi, vici'." The London press thus commented on the Spaniard's triumphal tour of Britain between 1889 and 1893.
It was in the British Isles of all places that Albéniz increasingly turned to subjects from his native country, composing España (HN 857) amongst other things. Although it might seem surprising, in this tribute to the Iberian peninsula Albéniz also included a tango that appears in the form of a Cuban habanera. Behind the multicultural charade is one of Albéniz' most popular works, full of warm longing for exotic climes. This easy-to-play piece is now available as a single edition.

«'Veni, vidi, vici': Señor Albéniz aurait toutes les raisons d'inscrire ces mots sur son blason!» C'est ainsi que la presse londonienne commenta la marche triomphale de l'Espagnol en Angleterre entre 1889 et 1893. C'est précisément sur les Îles Britanniques qu'il se consacra plus intensivement à des sujets en rapport avec sa patrie, composant entre autres España (HN 857). Aussi étonnant que cela puisse paraître, Albéniz glissa dans cet hommage à la Péninsule ibérique un tango revêtant l'habit d'une habanera cubaine. Derrière cette charade multiculturelle se cache l'une des oeuvres les plus populaires d'Albéniz, remplie d'une douce nostalgie des pays exotiques. Facile d'exécution, cette oeuvre est désormais disponible en édition séparée.
