Bachs zweistimmige Inventionen sind jedem Klavierschüler vertraut - aber auch Tastenvirtuosen kehren immer wieder zu dieser zeitlos schönen und keineswegs einfachen Musik zurück. Es ist kaum zu glauben, was Bach mit nur zwei Stimmen auszudrücken vermochte! Der Komponist selbst nennt sein Werk in der berühmten Vorrede eine "Anleitung", die Schülern und Klavierliebhabern lehrt, mit mehreren Stimmen "wohl zu verfahren", die "cantable Art im Spielen zu erlangen" und "einen Vorschmack von der Composition" zu bekommen. Wir legen nun eine Neu-Edition des Klassikers vor, die alle bekannten Quellen zu Rate zieht.

All piano students are familiar with Bach's two-part Inventions - but virtuosos of the keyboard also keep coming back to these timelessly beautiful but by no means easy works. It is hard to believe what Bach was able to express using only two parts! In his famous preface the composer himself calls the work an "Instruction" which teaches students and keyboard lovers to "treat correctly" several parts, to "achieve a singing style in playing" and to "acquire a strong foretaste of composition". We are now presenting a new edition of this classic collection, which draws upon all known sources.

Tout élève pianiste connaît les Inventions à deux voix de Bach - mais les virtuoses du clavier eux aussi reviennent toujours à cette belle musique intemporelle et pas si facile qu'elle en a l'air. Ce que Bach a exprimé à l'aide de deux voix seulement est à peine croyable! Dans son fameux avant-propos, le compositeur qualifie son oeuvre d'«guide» enseignant aux élèves et aux mélomanes du clavier la façon de s'y «prendre aisément» à plusieurs voix, de «obtenir un jeu cantabile» et d'acquérir «un avant-goût de la composition». Nous présentons une nouvelle édition de ce classique du répertoire, établie sur la base de toutes les sources connues à ce jour.
