Wer kennt nicht Johann Sebastian Bachs Chaconne, das Schlussstück aus seiner Partita d-moll für Violine solo? Immer wieder waren Komponisten inspiriert, dieses Ausnahmewerk auch für andere Instrumente zu erschließen. Das vielleicht berühmteste Arrangement stammt von Ferruccio Busoni. Ohne sich von Bachs Vorlage zu weit zu entfernen, verfolgte er das Ziel, die Virtuosität des Streichersatzes auf die Gegebenheiten des Tasteninstrumentes zu übertragen. So schuf Busoni einen Klaviersatz, der die Möglichkeiten des modernen Flügels kongenial ausreizt. Unsere Urtextausgabe wertet neben traditionellen Quellen in bisher nicht dagewesener Akribie eine Klavierrolle aus, auf der Busoni selbst zu hören ist. Den Fingersatz steuert kein Geringerer als Marc-André Hamelin bei.

Chaconne aus der Partita Nr. 2 d-moll

Who isn't familiar with Johann Sebastian Bach's Chaconne, the final movement in his Partita in d minor for Violin solo? Time and again composers have been inspired to make this exceptional piece accessible for other instruments. Perhaps the best-known arrangement is by Ferruccio Busoni.
Without distancing himself too greatly from Bach's original, he endeavours to transpose the virtuosity of the string writing onto the piano. Thus Busoni wrote for the piano in a way that congenially makes the most of the capabilities of the modern piano. Our Urtext edition not only takes into account the traditional sources but also meticulously analyses a piano roll in great depth on which Busoni himself can be heard. The fingerings were provided by none other than Marc-André Hamelin.

Chaconne from Partita no. 2 d minor
Qui ne connaît pas la Chaconne de Jean-Sébastien Bach, le morceau qui clôt sa Partita en ré mineur pour violon solo? Les compositeurs tentèrent sans cesse de s'approprier pour d'autres instruments ce morceau exceptionnel. L'arrangement le plus connu est certainement celui de Ferruccio Busoni. Sans trop s'éloigner de l'original de Bach, Busoni adapta aux possibilités de l'instrument à clavier la virtuosité du violon, parvenant ainsi à créer un morceau pour piano qui tire profit, de manière tout aussi géniale, des ressources offertes par le piano moderne. En plus des sources traditionnelles, nous avons, pour notre édition Urtext, examiné pour la première fois de manière si approfondie un rouleau pour piano, sur lequel on entend Busoni lui-même. Les doigtés sont de la plume de nul autre que Marc-André Hamelin.
