Mit dieser Urtextausgabe, zusammengestellt von dem erfahrenen Pianisten und Pädagogen Walter Georgii, soll dem angehenden Klavierspieler ein erster kleiner Überblick über die Vielfalt der klassisch-romantischen Klavierliteratur geboten werden. Die freie Auswahl und Anordnung orientiert sich hauptsächlich an der Schönheit, Bekanntheit oder Spielbarkeit der einzelnen Stücke. Dahinter steht die Absicht, dem Spieler gewissermaßen ein buntes Spektrum interessanter Werke aus den unterschiedlichsten Epochen zu präsentieren. Neben den "großen" Namen lassen sich auch überraschende Entdeckungen von weniger bekannten Komponisten machen.
Band I enthält die leichteren Stücke; nur zwei erreichen Schwierigkeitsgrad 5, die meisten anderen liegen zwischen Schwierigkeitsgrad 2 und 4.

With this Urtext edition compiled by the expert pianist and piano instructor Walter Georgii, the budding pianist is offered a little overview of the variety of classical-romantic piano literature. The selection and organization is chiefly oriented on the beauty, popularity and performability of the pieces. Behind this is the intent to present to the player a kind of colourful spectrum of interesting works ranging from clear across a wide variety of eras; next to the "great" names, one can also make surprising discoveries of lesser known composers.
Volume I contains the easier pieces; while only two reach difficulty level 5, most of the others lie between levels 2 and 4.

Cette édition Urtext élaborée par le pianiste et pédagogue expérimenté Walter Georgii a pour objectif d'offrir à l'apprenti pianiste un premier aperçu de la variété du répertoire classique et romantique pour le piano. Librement sélectionnées et classées, les pièces ont été choisies pour leur beauté, leur notoriété et leur jouabilité, avec en arrière-plan l'objectif de présenter aux pia-nistes une palette aussi colorée que possible d'oeuvres intéressantes d'époques différentes. Outre les «grands» noms, ce recueil réserve également quelques découvertes surprenantes de compositeurs moins connus.
Le volume I contient les oeuvres les plus faciles dont seules deux atteignent le niveau 5 de difficulté, la plupart des autres oscillant entre les niveaux 2 et 4.
