This book is a collection of recent articles by Dr Man-Chung Tang on the design of bridges. Based on his years of experience in bridge-building, the book is divided into three parts: Ideas, Conception and Others. Part 1: Ideas, covers the architecture in bridge design — from the artistic expression to human emotion of an engineer to integrate the arts on the basis of engineering. Part 2: Conception, looks into the implementation of bridge design from the perspectives of aesthetics, safety, economy, and service life cycle. Finally, in Part 3: Others, the author presents his design thinking about bridge development in China and the rest of the world.
