This book includes selected works by the prominent Ukrainian writer Ivan Karpenko-Kary. They reflect the aggravation of class contradictions, the life of the rural bourgeoisie and the Cossacks in Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth century. These comedies have not lost their value today.
