The Deccan during the early modern period roughly corresponds from the sixteenth to the early twentieth century, and the region presents a rich tapestry of diverse influences. The Deccan Plateau's unique position, situated in south-central India at the crossroads of various cultures, was a region marked by the confluence of Persianate culture, regional dynastic rule, and interactions with European traders and powers.
