Description
Jan needs a change in his superficial life. Fresh impressions, new contacts - that's what he hopes to gain from an invitation to dinner that he extends. Two familiar faces, two surprise guests, good food, fine wine. What sounds like a recipe for a successful evening turns out to be an explosive mixture. Jan and his guests are horrified to discover how much hatred and revenge are simmering beneath the surface and how far each of them would be willing to go. Andreas Breidert, born in Darmstadt in 1981, is an avid reader, linguistic artist, and carnival enthusiast with strong ties to his homeland. His first three books, all local crime novels written in the South Hessian dialect, were awarded the artist prize of the "Spirwes - Darmstadt Prize for Oral Artistry & Lifestyle" in 2017.A visit to a restaurant inspired Breidert to open up to the thriller genre and break new literary ground with "Das letzte Gericht" (Bumped off the table). The author lives in the Rhine-Main area and has been working as a controller for several years. "A dinner party that escalates: a harmless dinner turns into a tense chamber drama about hatred, justice, and the depths of human depravity."
